I would be lying if I said I wasn't antsy for cooler days, bright colored leaves, and the season of jeans, boots and sweaters. I am a Summer girl through and through, but even I can't fight the urge to want to throw on a sweater and jean jacket and sip on a chai latte. I welcome the challenge that August brings: satisfying my appetite for Fall clothes while making it work with the Summer heat.
Here in PA it is hot and humid in August and no where close to sweater weather.
Needless to say, it's still Summer! So how do I dress for Fall in hot weather?
Keep it cool with Summer colors. I kept the classic-to-Summer all white color scheme to welcome the Summer heat and used blue and neutral accessories to spice it up a little. I was super pleased with this outfits ability to fulfill my sweater weather appetite while still being appropriate for a Summer evening.
Add light layers. The key to a Fall feel is layers! Layers are specific to any transition season, and Fall makes no exceptions. To get the layered Fall feel I wanted (in August), I used light weight transition pieces like this cute little sweater tank, jean jacket and white jeans. The sweater tank satisfied the chunky sweater desire that comes with Fall, while the jean jacket and bandana gave me the layered look I wanted. The all white kept this outfit Summer appropriate, and to top off the "Fall vibe" I added the bandana as the cherry on top.
Keep open toed shoes. These will be something I'll miss when the temperatures finally drop, so I'm wearing them as long as I can! These are a Summer favorite of mine, and keeping a Summer sandal on helped keep this outfit cool enough for the heat.
Step out of your comfort zone! I'm guilty in that I have a few bandanas that don't always get used. This trend is one I love on other people and is usually worn with the knot to the side. I threw this on and decided to keep the knot front and center and ended up loving it! It's a great substitute to a statement necklace, and can serve as a light transition to actual scarf weather.
Head to your closet, first! The reason I'm always antsy for Fall weather is because it opens up a whole new wardrobe, with pieces that haven't been worn in months. When heading to your closet. look for pieces you love but haven't worn in awhile because of Summer. Look for light layers, a jean jacket is my favorite, and pair it with a tank or light tee. Patterns can be fun, too - do you have light weight gingham or plaid shirts that have a Fall feel? Have fun with it!
